Eneco Head Office

Eneco signed an agreement with OVG for the development of an innovative and sustainable head office. The office has a size of approximately 30.000 sqm and will house 1.400 employees.

The building is designed by Dam & Partners Architects and consists of three bended building parts that seem to embrace the centrally positioned atrium. Special technical and sustainable solutions are integrated in the design of the building such as ground sourced heat pumps, solar energy and air circulation. The building is strategically positioned towards the sun for natural lighting and uses sustainable materials, colours and planting. On the rooftop of the building a large rooftop garden will be developed which contributes to the goals of the Rotterdam Government to stimulate the use of natural rooftops.

The building facade will get a vegetation on the first three floors of the building. This results in an improvement in the aesthetic quality of the countryside by the plants absorb sunlight thereby heating of the wall is reduced.  Furthermore, Eneco both a part of the south facade of the building roofs on two PV cells draw which renewable electricity is generated. The building will use ground sources heat pumps for central cooling and heating.

Eneco is a renewable energy company and invests substantially in the coming years in renewable energy. 2010 end 1.100 fixed workstations will be created into the new headquarters. By choosing a sustainable concept of working with open spaces Eneco creates additional working facilities for total 1,400 employees. The required office space per employee is reduced, which saves housing costs.
The central location of the new building in Rotterdam Prins Alexander ensures the office is easy to reach by public transport.
