On Wednesday November 30th, at the National Sustainability Congress, Deloitte, AKD and OVG received a BREEAM-NL Excellent design certificate for Deloitte and AKD’s new sustainable offices on the Zuidas.
Its BREEAM qualification rating achieved 4 stars, the highest score ever for sustainable new build in the Benelux. At the core of the building design is the use of a great deal of glass and the incorporation of 700 m2 of solar panels.
Wim Fieggen operational director of the Dutch Green Building Council (DGBC) presented the certificate to Harry Vlaardingerbroek, responsible for Deloitte’s accommodation policy, Mat Bovy COO of AKD and Robert van Alphen, OVG development manager.
Harry Vlaardingerbroek emphasized the strong points of Deloitte and AKD’s new premises: “Sustainability, modern architecture and a wonderful working environment have been harmoniously integrated in this building”.
Mat Bovy, COO of AKD, added: “AKD is extremely happy with this green certificate that rates AKD and Deloitte’s new premises as ‘excellent’. Realizing a sustainable office building is a huge challenge so we are very happy that our efforts have produced this marvelous result”.
“The new accommodation for Deloitte and AKD offers unlimited flexibility for layout; this facilitates a broad and deep provision of services that ultimately benefits the client. A combination of energy-saving and energy-generating measures furthermore ensures that Deloitte and AKD will save around 70% on their energy bills. The combination of flexibility of layout and an energy concept that is far ahead of its time make the office building extraordinarily future-proof”, said Coen van Oostrom, CEO of OVG.
Flexibility
The clients wanted the building to be a concrete interpretation of ‘The New World of Work’. This not only means that there must be flexibility in the use of the various spaces, but also that accessibility plays a major role. PV panels will later generate sustainable energy to charge electric cars. There will be around ten of these charging points.
Light and heat
The New World of Work requires modern workstations with plenty of natural light where staff soon feel at home. After all, the implication of flexible working times is that people come and go. A large, north-facing atrium will provide light. Plenty of transparency and space, without any full sun. Use will later be made of district heating and cooling in order to guarantee an optimal climate for users. The temperature can be adjusted for each room so that no energy is wasted. The more than 700 m2 of solar panels are integrally incorporated into the design and thereby generate energy.
